When your AODD pump stops unexpectedly, the air valve is one of the first places to investigate. Here are the most common air-end issues and what they usually indicate:
Pump stalls mid-cycle
Often caused by a stuck or seized air valve spool due to contaminated air supply. Install an inline filter and replace worn spool seals.
Irregular or erratic cycling
Worn O-rings or U-cup seals cause internal air leakage and inconsistent shift timing. An air-side repair kit resolves this in most cases.
Pump won't start
Check whether the air valve has process medium contamination — a sign of diaphragm failure. Both the diaphragm and air valve assembly may need replacing.
Icing at air exhaust
