Gaskets are the static sealing components on the wet side of an AODD pump. They sit at every joint where two pump body sections meet — between the manifolds and the fluid chambers, between the fluid chambers and the centre block, and between the centre block and any covers or end plates. Their function is to prevent process fluid from leaking externally at these joints under the pressure and cyclic forces generated by the pump's operation.
Although gaskets are not moving parts, they are still consumable components that require replacement during every scheduled strip-down or service. Each time a pump is opened, gaskets are compressed and deformed. It is not recommended. Gaskets that have been compressed once take a permanent set and lose their ability to seal reliably when reinstalled. The cost of a new gasket set is far lower than the cost of a post-service fluid leak or a second unplanned strip-down. Always fit a fresh gasket set when reassembling an AODD pump.
A complete gasket set covers all four sealing positions in the pump: manifold-to-chamber gaskets (inlet and discharge sides), chamber-to-centre block gaskets, any internal centre block gaskets, and cover or end plate gaskets. A matched set ensures no joint is missed during reassembly.
If re-torquing does not stop the leak, the gasket has likely reached the end of its compression range and can no longer seal reliably. This is common on gaskets that have been reused across multiple service cycles.
